How to Play Checkers
English Draughts
Capture, Crown, Control
Checkers is played on the dark squares of an 8x8 board. Red moves first, pieces move diagonally, and captures are available when a jump is open.

Move
Men move one dark square diagonally forward. Red moves toward row 8, Black moves toward row 1.
Capture
Jump diagonally over an adjacent opposing piece into an empty square. If another jump is available, continue.
King
Reach the back row to crown a king. Kings can move and capture diagonally in both directions.
Strategy Notes
- Control the center to create more jump threats.
- Trade pieces only when it improves your king race.
- Keep back-row guards until the opponent commits.
- Use capture threats to pull pieces out of position.
