Theme songs "Muse - The Void" & "Mass Effect 3 Soundtrack - Leaving Earth"
It is not fully clear how old Harbinger is, or even… what it is. Is it really a deity…? A god? Something we should worship? It predates our earliest records. It is a whisper in the wind. A myth passed down through generations. It is forbidden knowledge. It precedes the dawn of our time.
Its name is H A R B I N G E R.
It is the herald of the Void. Of the Endless Shadow. It is the reaper. A never-ending oblivion. Death undying. It will bring upon us The End Times.
Yet still there are those who worship it. Those who support it. Those who swear their loyalty. They are the ones who want to start anew. Those who have been cheated and treated unfair. Those who have lost everything and who don’t believe anymore.
We live in a perpetual cycle. A cycle of life and death that starts ever anew. And Harbingers’ worshippers believe that by ending it all, we can restart the cycle again. We can have a new chance, a new shot at life. We can be born anew.
To worship Harbinger is to worship the void. It is to embrace death and destruction. It is to believe that by ending it all we will be reborn.
The name is taken from one of my favorite video games from several years ago – Mass Effect. I’m a huge sci-fi fan and the storyline really spoke to me. The main force you’re fighting against are known as the Reapers. So I opted to use the name of one of the main villains in the storyline as the name for this deity, which I translated to binary to fit the mechanical/robot feel of the deity.
