Named after the cave where the earliest fossil records of Homo sapiens outside of Africa were discovered, MISLIYA represents the first modern humans to migrate out of Africa. The fossils discovered in the Misliya Cave in Israel date to nearly 200,000 years ago. While this discovery does not necessarily imply mass migration, it suggests that humans have been exploring and migrating (at least in small numbers) for much longer than previously suspected.
