Sinamaica Lagoon, Venezuela 2008
Located in the northern region of Zulia State, Venezuela, La Laguna de Sinamaica is a stunning and culturally rich lagoon, home to the indigenous Añú people, also known as the “water people.” This unique ecosystem is characterized by its stilt houses (“palafitos”), built directly over the water, reminiscent of the early dwellings that inspired the name Venezuela (“Little Venice”).
