*New platform, new colors*
**Couleur Nouvelle** is a conceptual generative art series that expands the range of words we use for naming colors. Through a simple vowel-replacement algorithm a few more almost-recognisable color names are added to the list. Vort, Silvir, Urange, Whute, Aellow, Pank, etc.
# Both Languages
The series introduces new colors in *Franglish* - a mix of English and French. Living in a region of the world where English and French are spoken, conversations often happen in one language after another and both at once - switching mid-sentence. The necessity of selecting a language for this piece came early in the elaboration of the code. After going back and forth, it became clear that a truer expression of my relationship with color-words had to happen in both languages at once.
# Subtle Recognizable
The generative exploration of Couleur Nouvelle employs a single and simple modification to create an easily readable and recognizable color name. The base palette starts out with 28 colors. By randomly replacing a vowel, the palette expands to a possibility of 260 colors (259 if you exclude punk - pink with less i and more u which is obviously not a made up color).
