Kigwema is a quaint village nestled in Nagaland's southern part, situated within the Jakhama Circle of the Kohima District. It is home to the Angami tribe and one of the oldest villages amongst the Angami Naga villages. Just a 15 km journey southward from Nagaland's capital city, Kohima, takes you there. This village became a historical landmark when it witnessed the arrival of Japanese forces on April 4, 1944, at precisely 4:00 PM, during the tumult of World War II.
