When matter and antimatter collide, the particles destroy each other, with a huge energy release. Depending on the colliding particles, not only is there a great energy release, but new, different particles may also be produced (such as neutrinos and various flavours of quark.
The Universe was looks at itself, approvingly. It needs a record of this miracle.

KEEPERS OF THE LIGHT
Photography was manifested to capture space-time events for future consciousnesses to gaze upon and ponder. The photograph describes these events, the positions of photons reflecting off of matter, 13.7 billion years after their inception. The heavy elements from exploding stars, iron, silver, platinum and gold are used to capture photon energy at the image plane on film and transfer it to paper.
