Aphrodite #001

Aphrodite#001 is an artwork based on the William Bouguereau painting, “The Birth of Venus” and it depicts a self-portrait of the artist Cyber_YuYu (YuLiang Liu) replacing the ancient Greek goddess of beauty and sexual love. The artist’s intention with this artwork is to redefine the limits of stereotypical masculinity and unapologetically embrace his vulnerabilities while at the same time bringing Asian representation to the forefront. Aphrodite#001 is the first of an ongoing series embracing individuality and diversity.
