Documenting this years superbloom down in California was an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. Driving down from Washington, It was quite a challenge to time the bloom right, while also having a good weather window. After keeping an eye on the weather and checking reports on conditions, we made the 12 hour trek down to the Golden State in early April. The first leg of our trip in northern California didn't go exactly as planned, as we were greeted with a huge shift in the weather. Seemingly overnight rain moved in for the next 4 days, driving a wedge in our plans. At first we debated whether or not we wanted to head even further south, almost 20 hours away from home, but eventually we decided to head down to Carrizo Plain. We were greeted with sunny days and waves of flowers as far as I could see. Patches of orange, yellow and purple filled up the horizon and beautiful cumulus clouds filled the skies. After following the main road through the fields for a while, we checked the satellite maps to find some service roads that would lead up into the hills above the valley. After some looking, we found a few roads that would lead us to some mountains right on top of the San Andreas fault line. We drove on some pretty tough roads for what felt like forever, but after we were awarded with this incredible perspective of earths beauty. Miles and miles of flowers as far as the eye could see. Wouldnt trade this moment for anything.
