Chang'e (Chinese: 嫦ε¨₯; pinyin: ChΓ‘ng'Γ©, commonly simplified to Chang-Er or Chang-o), originally known as Heng'e, is the Goddess of the Moon in Chinese mythology. One of the most important events in the Chinese calendar, the Mid-Autumn festival, is largely based of the story of Chang E.
The Jade Rabbit is also a very well-known figure in Chinese folklore and is said to embody the ideals of selflessness, piety and sacrifice. Benevolent in nature, he is commonly given offerings during the Mid-Autumn festival.
