Raijin: the Japanese god of lightning
In the Shinto religion, Raijin (雷神, "Thunder God"), also known as Kaminari-sama (雷様), Raiden-sama (雷電様), Narukami (鳴る神) & Raikou (雷公), is Japanese mythology's God of lightning, thunder and storms.
He is one of the most fearsome deities in all of Japan and children are often told to hide their belly button for fear of Raijin eating it! He is often portrayed as an intimidating demon and accompanied by drums which he bangs to create thunder!
