Using population density data for the New York borough of Staten Island, a digital sculpture is formed – an abstract totem of the ebb and flow of a busy population. The central form is created from a proprietary algorithm which transforms alphanumeric strings of data – in this instance "Staten Island" – into a unique three dimensional shape in which the populous, represented by data-born strands and coloured by images of the Staten Island ferry, move in, around and through this code born form.
