Unconstructed Dream Space combines a day in the studio with a voyage to outer space as a metaphor of the creative process. A small figure with various tools and equipment looks out into the constellations of a vast universe. The face of a dreamer emerges, taking over the composition, and becomes an astronaut.
This piece continues my interest in the collective unconscious, modern landscapes, surrealism, science fiction, and technology. I used a custom text-to-image AI pipeline, incorporating the phrase “unconstructed dream space” to reference the raw materials of the subconscious. The strange compositional effects of AI merge the interior and exterior spaces in a new type of perspective.
The Josh Craig designed the evocative audio landscape, which combines the sounds of objects under construction, digital outer space effects, and analog synthesizers to reflect the theme of inner and outer realms.
