Bears have several mechanisms to regulate their body temperature and stay cool in hot weather. Here are some ways in which bears stay cool: Panting: Like dogs, bears pant to cool themselves down. Panting increases the evaporation of water from the tongue and mouth, which cools the blood vessels in the face and head. Seeking shade: Bears will seek shade under trees or other vegetation to avoid direct sunlight and reduce their exposure to heat. Swimming: Bears are excellent swimmers and will often cool off by taking a dip in a nearby body of water, such as a river or lake. Rolling in water or mud: Bears may also roll in water or mud to cool themselves down. The water or mud cools their skin and helps to dissipate heat. Reducing activity: In hot weather, bears may reduce their activity levels and conserve energy to prevent overheating.
