Paul - ‘I was really excited to work with Chris on his crazy-ambitious ‘365’ project, a remarkable photo-a-day marathon in which he’s demonstrated not only his huge appetite for photographic portraiture, but also his tireless work ethic over an entire year, whilst still maintaining an incredibly high standard of creativity, producing consistently stunning images. As a film-maker and EduTuber (yep - it’s a thing) myself, I can sit back and marvel (and yeah just a little jealously) at the uniquely impressive body of work Chris has created. I’ve had the Panon Widelux for around 20 years now. It’s the original on-set “selfie” camera of choice for people like Jeff Bridges, Gary Oldman and Kubrick, who’s been hugely influential on the way I work and the way I think. In this image Chris brilliantly realised the illusion that I was shooting myself in a mirror, whilst it was him actually doing all the hard, creative work, filming me straight on.’
I had a fascinating session with Paul, which most of it was spent chatting about cameras, and especially the Widelux. I have a feeling that I must have been scooting around like the Mad Hatter, but its good to be slightly nutty!
