They say in the old Aztec, Coyolxauhqui not only was descended from the moon, she was the moon itself. She was a powerful magician that led the Centzon Huitznaua, an army of her 400 brothers the star gods, to overthrow and kill her mother the goddess Coatlicue. She then won her ultimate battle against her younger brother Huitzilopochtli, the god of War, and made her throne on top The Templo Mayor of Tenochtitlan. She ruled the Aztec Empire with a firm hand until her death, when she ascended to the sky and become the moon we know today.
