âNepal Van Javaâ is the third and final part of my genesis NFT collection âVolcanoesâ, a three-part series dedicated to some of Indonesiaâs most fascinating natural landmarks.
Dusun Butuh, otherwise known as Nepal Van Java, is a colourful village perched on the slopes of Mt. Sumbing, an active stratovolcano in Central Java.
My first visit to this quaint mountainside community didnât quite go according to plan. Having spent a week in the area with consistently overcast skies, I was greeted with glorious conditions on our final morning - it seemed too good to be true. Painfully, it was. My drone failed to connect and so the shoot was over before it had even begun.
I returned to Yogyakarta 6 months later to try it again. As I approached Mt. Sumbing early one morning, I hoped more than anything that the weather would be on our side once more. With dawn breaking, I noticed the most perfect lenticular cloud engulfing the summit. This time, it wasn't too good to be true. It was game on.
