As soon as we heard the first clap of thunder, we decided to seek shelter in a fast-food restaurant. We sat down at a table on the second floor next to a window overlooking a large intersection and within minutes the thunderstorm broke out and the rain came pouring down.
All of a sudden, everything outside looked so unreal... as if we were looking through a portal into another world. The heavy rain in combination with artificial lights made the city glow and mesmerized by the spectacle, we sat there for half an hour watching the people down below.
This photograph is an ode to people-watching. Those magical moments when you observe the world around you and get lost in guessing at another person's story. The title refers to the Bukit Bintang district in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) where I took this photograph.
