It was a fleeting moment to witness Comet NEOWISE dancing in the sky. A moment that if not chased, it would be missed.
I was determined to catch a glimpse of this spectacular sight before it was gone. On the first night, I drove out to Banff with a friend, but we got hit with a storm and were forced to drive back with no photographs. The second night, we decided to hike up a mountain in Kananaskis. We hiked up just before sunset and planned to stay there until we saw the comet. We waited on top of the mountain for a few hours, but a crazy amount of clouds rolled in. We decided it was better if we hike down and to find some clear skies elsewhere. As we got to the car, the sky completely cleared up. We were bummed with our luck, but we didn’t want to give up. So next, we decided to drive towards Banff. We made a few stops along the way to take photos, but ended up near Lake Minnewanka, where I captured this photograph.
