Arriving at Fagradalsfjall, my breath left me as the first eruption forged a moment of disbelief, a feeling I was sure would fade. I watched overnight from sunset to sunrise, feeling the lava's warmth during each eruption, and that sense of disbelief never left. I want to always remember that places like this exist, the ones that can't possibly be real... until they take your breath away.
A surreal reminder to continually alter our expectations of reality.
