In 2016, the Mule Ridge Fire south of Tucson, Arizona burned nearly 10,000 acres of land in the Coronado National Forest. In the coolest part of the night, I was able to capture the Milky Way through the smoke and fireglow as the fires seemed to be in a state of slumber before raging again from high winds and temperatures. I'm proud to offer this 1/1 as this was an incredible moment of darkness and light in front of a lone surviving tree.
