Hundreds of wooden boats fan out around their moorings in patterns that resemble flowers. The boats, decorated with colourfully patterned rugs, are ready to transport workers from the outskirts of the city to their jobs in the centre. The Buriganga River is used as a route into Dhaka city for millions of workers every day. The Bangladeshi capital is one of the most densely populated in the world and home to around 19 million people.
