Have you heard of the story of Shahmaran( the queen of serpents)? Shahmaran is a half human-half snake mythical creature who knew all the secrets about nature, herbs, and medicine. Her secret place was discovered by a human named Jamasp who she fell in love. However, she could not guess her spot would be detected by the king because of him. When she was killed by the king, she transferred all her medical information and wisdom to Jamasp. However, people in that village are still scared of her because it is said that her execution still not known by snakes. Once they find out about it, all snakes will attack human-being.
Every time I remember Shahmaran’s story, it reminds me of forgiving nature, disloyalty of human-being and their patriarchal way of thinking. Therefore, in respect for Shahmaran’s soul, I wanted to illustrate her as a prayer.
