A night among the oldest trees in the world. Some of these trees exceed 4000 years of age.
It took me a few thousand miles and multiple trips to the White Mountains from the Bay Area before I could get this time-lapse. On the first two attempts, the road was open, but when you got within a mile or so from the summit, there was snow blocking the road, and I was not able to safely walk the rest of the way as it was 20°F or colder up there (10,000 ft) Windchill below 0°F.
On my third attempt, I finally made it to the parking lot and explored the area. The tree that I was after goes by the name Methuselah. Still, after trying to make my way on a steep snow-covered trail with my slider set up, two tripods, and a backpack full of gear and batteries, there was no way I was going to be able to do it safely, so I turned back to the parking lot after just a few hundred yards. I then made my way to this beautiful tree seen here in the time-lapse.
