I made this during the last day of my 3 day stay in the Hospital (Aug 20, 2022). I had gone in because I thought I was having a heart attack. I had chest pain, pain in between my shoulder blades, and I couldn’t breathe. Turns out I had multiple pulmonary embolisms in both lungs. They were strangling my heart and I’m lucky to be alive and grateful that I decided to go immediately instead of waiting.
This physical collage piece consists of the following:
Background - Hospital Gown
Crown of Head - Lid for Hot Plate food container inlaid with napkins and paper towel.
Eyes - half cans of Shasta Cola
Nose - Pulse Oximeter
Cheeks - Foil lid for cherry water ice cut in half.
Outline of Cheeks and Jaw of Skull - Rubber Band Tourniquets.
Teeth - Heart Monitor Electrodes
Signature Piece - Aluminum lined interior of electrode packaging signed with paint pen.
