Federico Fellini also theorized the phenomenon in 1960 by naming the main character in La Dolce Vita "Paparazzo". He said it was inspired by an Opera Libretto and from the name of one of his childhood friends. It has also been assumed that “Paparazzi” was a contraction of three Italian words: papatacci (little mosquito), razzi (flashes of light) and ragazzi (young man).
