After starting out in small roles in the early 1970s, he came to public attention in 1976 in « Rocky », which tells the story of a Philadelphia boxer named Rocky Balboa. His performance earned him nominations for the Oscars and the Golden Globes. This considerable success launched his career and generated a series of eight films. In the 1990s, Stallone left behind the characters of Rocky and Rambo. Wanting to break away from the shackles of these two characters, he tries to follow in the footsteps of his rival and friend Arnold Schwarzenegger, by breaking through comedy, with "L’embrouille est dans le sac" (1991) and "Stop! Or my mother will shoot." (1992). But his popularity rate fell, and Stallone went through a first tough period. It is his friend, but competitor of always, Schwarzenegger, who became the star of the box office.

Après avoir commencé dans des petits rôles au début des années 1970, il se révèle au grand public en 1976 dans « Rocky », dont le récit narre l'histoire d'un boxeur de Philadelphie nommé Rocky Balboa. Sa prestation lui vaut d'être nommé aux Oscars, aux Golden Globes. Ce succès considérable lance sa carrière et engendrera une série de huit films rencontrant un important succès.
