In 2015 I was fortunate to win a place on the Fjallraven Polar event across the frozen wastes of Norway and Sweden, North of the Arctic Circle. Four days dog-sledding, camping in the wilderness and looking after the engines of your transport, the dogs. It was an amazing experience, full of interest, and at times, peril...but my abiding memory is crossing vast frozen lakes with nothing but the sound of the dogs panting and a few fellow competitors in sight. Note: It is not easy taking photos on the back of a sled with one hand and the snow and wind in your face...
