One day in Beijing, I drove about an hour north of the city to visit Ming's Tomb. It was really a nice trip... and more like a walk in a 5km park than visiting a mausoleum or something. I expected crypts or catacombs or something with a name in "Ming's Tomb" but it was nothing like that... There were beautiful garden paths and many of these sorts of structures, all aligned along the central axis that connects everything from The Forbidden City to the Summer Palace and countless other Chinese monuments around Beijing. This military base in White Sands is not easy to get to, but it's worth the trip if you are into missiles and that sort of military hardware stuff. I love history, although I'm not an over-the-top fanatic. It was incredible to visit to look at all the old and new tech. If you also like history, I must recommend the best podcast ever made - Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. I think you'll love it! White Sands, New Mexico

Every Autumn I try to go make random walks around the area I live. It's mostly private estates, and I've never gotten in trouble for just ambling around them with my camera. Whenever I do happen to see a homeowner, they are naturally confused until I tell them I am their neighbor and just out taking photos. Sometimes they are a bit suspicious, but then after talking to me, they seem I am harmless. And then I ask them what hours they are not home. Arrowtown, New Zealand

I was so excited to take this train through the mountains of Japan near Aizuwakamatsu! An interesting result is that, even though I took a ton of photos out the windows of the train during the journey, my favorite photo is this one, once I got off the train! I love these Japanese train guys. They take their job so seriously. They have amazing outfits. They are SO nice and patient. And these train guys know EVERYTHING about trains and schedules, so you can go up to any of them, any time, and ask questions and they will figure everything out for you. Aizuwakamatsu, Japan

At night this place lights up in amazing ways. This is what they look like in the middle of the day from above. I think it's quite a mesmerizing little scene! You can see a curve there along the left side. That's a bridge high above everything that connects a few of the trees. Well worth exploring. Singapore
