The woman depicted is inspired by Oyuki from the folk tale of Himenoga Pond in Shimane Prefecture, which is famous for its beautiful Iris laevigata.
In the story, a woman is chased by bandits and grieves over her separation from the young man she has sworn eternal love to. The theme of the theme is based on the folk tale: "The woman is exhausted and throws herself into the pond, and when she is dazed, a white cat, an incarnation of the young man, appears to her and rescues her. The background is a traditional Japanese costume, the Kyo Yuzen kimono, which gives the work a dignified and delicate expression.

描かれている女性は、美しい燕子花(かきつばた)で有名な
島根県姫逃池の民話に出てくるお雪をイメージしています。
｢山賊に追われ永遠の愛を誓った若者との別れを悲しむ娘。憔悴した娘は池に身を投げ、意識が朦朧としていたところ、若者の化身となった白猫が娘の元へ助けに現れる」という民話を元にしたストーリーをテーマにしています。背景には日本の伝統衣装である京友禅の着物が使われ、作品に重厚感のある繊細な表現がされています。
