This piece honors Eritrean and Ethiopian heritage and preserves the centuries-old story of "Lidet" on the blockchain.
Created on January 7th in company of family, Orthodox Christians globally recognize this day as Christmas, the birth of Jesus, or "Lidet". In Eritrean and Ethiopian cultures, this day is celebrated by attending church, lighting candles, drinking coffee, and enjoying a large feast to break a 43-day fast leading to "Lidet".
Some of the oldest forms of religious iconography date to 4th century church wall paintings from the kingdom of Axum, today Ethiopia and Eritrea. The style of iconography is characterized by vibrant colors, large eyes, and stories depicting sacred tales from the Bible.
It brings me immense joy to share my heritage and upbringing with you ::
