In 2016, I was hatching Brahma chicks when I discovered why one didn't totally hatch out. This Diprosopus (latin for 2 faced) chick, has 3 eyes, two beaks, and was 3/4 hatched when it died (They NEVER survive) It's an incredibly rare phenomenon, caused by a change in the SHH (Sonic Hedgehog) protein. One in millions. Below the head, the rest was completely normal. I think it died because the second face (left) had a short upper beak, which would have caused it to aspirate and die prior to hatch. I took 7 pictures, and regret forever that I didn't send the body to the Atlantic Veterinary College pathology lab, as it's so very, very rare. All I could see was a poor dead chick. you can't own the real thing, but you can own an incredibly rare photo, and your Eths go to continuing to work with feed and love these chickens, even the roosters. Especially the roosters. Rooster art to maybe follow. I am the owner of the birds, and the fingers in these pictures.
