This work is the 2018 video loop version of an ongoing 'Acanthus' project. It is one of the first video loops created in this series after the original AcanthusLoop video experiments.
Originally created to be a part of a VJ set, the content is now a unique piece of crypto-art.
Inspirations come from Duchamp's 'Nude descending a Staircase'; 'Dr. Strange'; Austrian Monastic Rococo styles, and classical sculpture from Antiquity.
This work presents a 3D scanned sculpture from antiquity as the central object in a format previously reserved for nobility and gods. By presenting a common figure, it empowers the common person, and removes power from the surrounding style, allowing it to be used without prior dogmatic connotations.
The digital work is created in an accumulative process, and coloured with a generative lighting and shading system.
