POEM
"And he gazed upon his reflection
He fell in love
It became an obsession
He saw no flaw
The Gods were then jealous
They placed a curse
Condemned to forget his wants
And starve forevermore"
This is my sophomore artwork which I am glad to present after months of contemplation. As some of you might know the story of Narcissus, he was condemned by the gods to stare at his reflection forever without a thought to his basic needs as a human.
I chose to make this an animation over 3 frames which denotes the days and nights Narcissus spent poring and fawning over himself. The mirror on the grass represents a tool that amplifies our tendencies towards self adoration and vanity.
I hope this speaks to you as it did to me. Your comments and shares are highly appreciated.
Thank you.
