ABOUT PHILLIP TOLEDANO
Toledano was born in 1968 in London, to a French Moroccan mother and an American father. He grew up in London and Casablanca.
Toledano considers himself a conceptual artist: Everything starts with an idea, and the idea determines the execution. Consequently, his work varies in medium, ranging from photography to installation, sculpture, painting and video.
Phillip Toledano is currently based in New York, New York. His work has been seen in The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, GQ, Esquire, The London Times, The New Yorker, amongst many others.
His work has been shown in museums and galleries worldwide. In addition, Toledano has had 7 photography books published.
ABOUT AMERICAN FEAR
Shot in 2004, AMERICAN FEAR is about the biggest industry in America - the fear industry.
Fear of others, fear of a change, fear of African Americans, fear of color, the fears of women.
The images are not photoshop but are real costumes designed, and then shot.
