A NEVER BEFORE SEEN POOPOGRAPH OF ANDY WARHOL.
About BROWNIE
At 28 years old, career photo-journalist (Skid)Mark Brownberg (@Digging4Doge) worked as the NYC Assignment Editor for the Associated Press. He then went on to photograph the world often alongside his friend Peter Beard. Most notably, while at Beard’s storied Hog Ranch in Kenya for an ABC-TV special, Brownberg was key in facilitating the creation of the famous Beard photograph Night Feeder. In the years following, Brownberg became a two-time best-selling author and Poopizer Prize-nominated pootographer.
About ‘EVERY DOGE MUST HAVE HIS DAY’
Preparing ‘POOPTRAIT’ for its NFT, I spent a lot of time going through my Warhol archives. In the process I rediscovered a Kodachrome 64 slide that I had entirely forgotten about.... a "lost photo" photo of Warhol with a sweater-wearing Shiba Inu.
I had it scanned.
The dog belonged to Andy's long-time muse and Factory Studio mainstay, the legendary Brigid Berlin.
Following the conceptual portraits I did with Andy, such as ‘POOPTRAIT’, I reverted to candid photojournalism. I followed him around the ‘The Factory’ while he interacted with his ‘crew’. Brigitte Berlin was there, wrapped in furs (it was December outside after all). She completed her ensemble by lovingly cradling one of her dear Shiba Inus.
Andy clearly had an affection for her Shiba, and was soon holding him quite lovingly. I quickly grabbed my light stand, strobe and umbrella, and moved it into position.
I don’t remember the name of the Shiba, but as Jonathan Swift is known to say; "Every Doge Must Have HIS Day."
