Melting Memories - Early Engram - NFT EEG / AI Data Sculpture, Refik Anadol’s 2017 project on the materiality of remembering shared very first time in NFT space. The very first EEG-data driven data sculpture minted on a blockchain.
Melting Memories research offered new insights into the representational possibilities emerging from the intersection of advanced technology and contemporary art. By minting EEG data sculpture that translate the elusive process of memory retrieval into data collections, the NFT exhibition immersed collectors in Anadol’s creative vision of “recollection” in the age of machine intelligence.
“Science states meanings; art expresses them,” writes American philosopher John Dewey and draws a curious distinction between what he sees as the principal modes of communication in both disciplines. In Minting Memories, Refik Anadol’s expressive statements provide the viewer with revealing and contemplative artworks that will generate responses to Dewey’s thesis.
