Under the guise of experiencing a loss, both emotionally and financially, this stories follows suit of tales often told about casinos. Folky dramatic imagery draws on the lore of gambling, where individuals enter with confidence, filled to the brim with optimism and the belief that their dreams will be realized. However, after only a few rounds, they find themselves further in debt and farther from their goals than they ever anticipated. (In the most of extreme cases.) On a personal level, this reflects my own subtle fear that the dreams, ideas, and ambitions I am pursuing as an artist might eventually leave me at a financial loss, ultimately putting me in a position where I can no longer create art freely as I do now. I would hate to end up as an uncut gem.
