What happens when a crown is earned, not inherited? "Heavy Crown" by Chae Tongyull draws from the tragic arc of Shakespeare’s “Othello”, a story of power, suspicion, and downfall. Across 87 NFTs originally painted in 1984 as part of the “Montreal Never Sinks” series, figures appear alone or in uneasy groups, with more than one crown often competing for the title. Reimagined through Orangehare’s in-house production process, some works remain in their original oil-on-canvas form, while others are digitally fractured or enhanced, splitting the collection into four visual categories that trace the arc between visibility and vulnerability.
