"Death of the Comedian offers an interpretation of Maurizio Cattelan’s The Comedian. While the original piece is conceptually simple and comical, my artwork takes that simplicity and deepens the question. This piece examines the connection between mortality and consumption, suggesting that even something as seemingly timeless as the banana will eventually decay and be replaced.
But what happens when the banana is no longer replaced? When the duct tape loses its grip, and no one is willing to continue replacing either the banana or the tape? In the end, The Comedian will deteriorate and, like all things, ultimately die."
