Amazon forest spirit Curupira is here to protect the rainforest from those coming with evil intentions. There are several entities in Brazilian folklore that share the same
function and similar features: Anhangá, Curupira, Caipora, Caiçara, Pai-do-mato, etc. In some sources they are treated as different creatures, in others they are considered to be different names of the same spirit or demon. Curupira’s legs are twisted to make reversed footsteps confusing hunters and travelers. It also has ability to stun people with scary whistles. It is often depicted as a redhead teenager. Like Caipora, it rides a peccary or a wild boar. Like Anhangá it has fire in its eyes and glowing
white skin. Like all of them, it protects the forest and its inhabitants from people who destroy nature for greedy reasons.
