The 2005 vintage kicked off with a severe winter drought, which persisted until July. A few scattered showers helped temper the drastic conditions, and life-saving rains on August 15th allowed the vintage to properly recover from water stress. Cool nights helped preserve natural acidity, resulting in balanced, well-structured wines suitable for long-term aging.
