May 16, 2021: Rampart Range Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
We strive our whole photographic driven lives for certain moments. I was lucky enough to get one of those moments on this day.
Me and my husband started out in dreary cloud covered weather wondering if we could find the top of the clouds. We knew where to go and it was a race against time to beat the burn off.
Hairpin turns in socked in clouds are tricky. I thought maybe they were too high and we wouldn't find a spot to pull through.
Then almost as suddenly as you can say the words....we emerged from the bank. My breath was taken from me and I yelled at hubby to stop.
I jumped out of the car and trying to catch my breath....and shoot.
This is what I saw.
More miraculous, was how fast it burned off within seconds and was gone. I almost missed it!
My first mint of 2023.
My first mint since finding out I have breast cancer.
It won't be the last.
It deserves to be a 1/1.
