This architectural structure incorporates two sets of three point portals, which symbolise a return to self; introspection, self examination and self awareness in an individual.
Events in my life over the last few years have had me pulling apart the religion and ideas inherited from my parents whilst growing up. The child of a minister, there has been much to find my way through. I have come to deeply value being raised with an awareness that there is a world that exists beyond myself, a spiritual one I grew up knowing to be as real as the physical one.
I needed to seperate myself however, from the dogma and hypocrisy commonplace in the church and have found God instead through meditation, being in nature and listening to the still voice of my own guidance, which goes beyond the prescribed and conventional rules upheld by traditional religion.
So this work Let The Light In pays homage to this journey, and my gratitude for the place of peace that I have found within myself and how this has led me on the path to an authentic life. My days are filled with all the usual human challenges, but also intense moments of joy and calm and serendipitous happenings impossible to ignore.
This piece is a celebration of the day that follows the dark nights of the soul. There is always a new dawn. It is an acknowledgment that the job is never done, that growth and change is constant and yet there is always the light inside to return to.
This work was painted first in acrylic on linen and then animated. This original 100 x 100 cm work is able to be included in the first sale of this piece. Shipping however will be the responsibility of the collector. Please make contact to discuss this.
