VIRALITY is a second-life painting based on an unfinished iteration of my large-scale triptych: VITALITY I. As a painter, I am interested in composition - the composition of the whole piece, as well as the compositions that sit within it. Photography (technology) allows us to define and expand these smaller spaces; what might be a few inches on canvas can be seen as a whole world on a screen.
Like my other work, VIRALITY combines traditional oil painting for the first layers combined with digital painting on the overlayers. This piece relies more heavily on the oil painting, allowing the viewer to see the drips, splashes and brushstrokes of the main blue figure.
