Inspired by the art of the original Alien artist, Hans Ruedi Giger, this piece was originally created in soft pastels and charcoal. It shows two moments that a single life model is found reclining on a table. This piece was the birth of the artistic language I use today - Drawing in reverse to rub back through layers of colour to reveal the pastel stained paper beneath. The process is not unlike a sculpture starting with a solid block and chiseling away to reveal the treasure beneath. Initial observation studies were made during a 3 hour session in the studio with the life model. The drawing technique was then tested in a sketch book draft before before this final piece was created. Soft pastels and charcoal on paper. 8224 x 5223 px
