This piece portrays a mummy as a traveling spirit. There is a bridging of worlds from ground to sky. The spirit of the dead move into the sky into a network of undiscovered energy.
My travels have often found me staring at mummies behind glass in a diorama replicating their burial place. If we were to believe the dead's belief system and respect that, there is an imprisonment and trapping of the soul taking place. What is the cost of conservation on a spirit level.
In my collage work, I explore a world where spirits roam free in space/time going on adventures of their own.
