Materials: Sample of edition data on KnownOrigin (V2 & V3, 2018–2022), containing over 3,500 artist names from over 25,000 editions.
Details: Artist name assigned a color based on first edition date using RGB intensities that run from yellow to blue by dampening the intermediate (green) intensity. Artist names are ordered chronologically as sequences of characters from left to right, bottom to top. Plot composed of over 250,000 such letters. Emerging from this is a sunrise-like tapestry, from early artists at the bottom, to new artists entering KnownOrigin in reds and blues at the top.
