Some women in history were forced to become handmaids and were stripped of their identities in every possible way. Every facet of their individuality erased. Even their names were taken from them. Instead, they were given titles taken from the names of their Commanders. This is why each one of the "Heartbroken Handmaidens" names start with "Of" because women were stripped "of" their indentity & dignity. Often in relationships we give to much of ourselves to our partnerships. We tend to forgive and forgive and accept and accept the poor behavior in the hopes that they will make changes. It is important that keep our independence and protect our sovereignty at all costs. We as women have fought for so long to have our voices heard. We are not “Too Dramatic” or “Over Emotional” “Too Sensitive” and our Needs are not "Unreasonable". You are worthy and lovable and your emotions do not make you weak! I am currently going through a heartbreak and have had to leave a relationship because my security was being held hostage. I am currently in transitional housing and will be stepping out on my own Independently for the first time, with out any major crutches, since the car accident 7.5 years I am not able to work because I re-injured my neck while caring for a women who was a quadriplegic. I will be on program called "income assistance" while I wait for my approval of "Disability" I am a strong resilient woman and so so proud of myself.
