The sun peeks through a small break in the clouds and illuminates a patch of grass beyond the lake. A glimmer of hope for the soon to arrive summer and warmth that will come to the Westfjords. My favorite photo from Iceland, Majestic Valley was captured on a whim. Focused on the plans for the day and while driving along the infamous Route 1 to the next destination, this scene appeared through the windshield of the van. I immediately pulled off the road and set up my gear as quickly as possible. The clouds were changing rapidly and I managed to snap this shot just in time before the small reveal of the sun was gone, swallowed up by the ominous clouds above. Part of the three-piece genesis series “Of Ships and Clouds”, this 1/1 piece by Trent North is an original infrared photo captured in the 590 nm wavelength spectrum and finished in a false-color scheme.
